In their study, 17 high-risk patients without a history of HCC and presenting with AFP levels greater than 300 ng/mL but negative gadobenate dimeglumine- or gadodiamide-enhanced MRI were followed, and 59% (n = 10/17) developed HCC in the liver after a mean of 138 days (range: 41–247 days) [16]. This evidence concerns the gene AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
