We evaluated SMAD3 methylation expression levels using microarray analysis of breast cancer specimens and found that SMAD3 methylation levels were negatively correlated with patients’ overall survival, and the multivariate analysis showed that SMAD3 methylation overexpression was an independent prognostic factor for patients with breast cancer (Figure 8, A and B, and Supplemental Figure 8E). Here, SMAD3 is linked to breast carcinoma.
