In 2019, a cross-sectional study conducted by Atalar et al. [25] enrolling healthy control, prediabetes and T2D, found that serum Galectin-3 increased in T2D but not prediabetes and healthy controls, and had a positive correlation with FPG and HbA1c, as well as hs-CRP, whose level was a useful biomarker for early estimating the chronic inflammatory process in diabetes.
