Sarcopenia is a geriatric syndrome in the musculoskeletal system, and by the year 2021, it has been recognized that there are multifactorial causes of age-related sarcopenia, such as impairments in neuromuscular function (Ryall et al., 2008) (loss of motor units innervating muscle), systemic inflammation (concluded as the SASP, characterized by higher level of cytokines), oxidative stress, decline in anabolic hormones (testosterone, growth hormone, insulin and insulin-like growth factors, and thyroid hormone) and mitochondrial dysfunction. Here, INS is linked to sarcopenia.
