Notably, ACE2 and NPC1, elevated in human cells or tissues infected with SARS-CoV-2, were found to be significantly associated with the decreased drug sensitivity (Pazopanib, Dexrazoxane, Oxaliplatin, Ifosfamide, Elesclomol, Paclitaxel, and Vinorelbine) of multiple cancer types including small cell lung cancer and metastatic non-small cell lung carcinoma, suggesting that patients with cancers (especially lung cancers) after SARS-CoV-2 infection may have a poor outcome because of the negative effect of SARS-CoV-2-induced upregulation of ACE2 and NPC1 on these anti-cancer drug sensitivity. This evidence concerns the gene NPC1 and lung cancer.
