SOD1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: (Renton et al., 2014) Mutations in Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) represent one of the most common cause of fALS and results in up to 20% of cases, (Birve et al., 2010; Deng et al., 1993; Renton et al., 2014; Rosen et al., 1993; Rotunno et al., 2014) whereas mutations in SOD1 are only found in around 1% of sporadic ALS (sALS).
