The link between PAD4 activity, NETs formation and induction of thromboembolism has been demonstrated in PAD4 knock-out mice subjected to a stenosis model to promote deep vein thrombosis: upon intervention, < 10% of PAD4 knock-out animals produced a thrombus, as compared to 90% of the control wild type animals [169]. This evidence concerns the gene PADI4 and deep vein thrombosis.
