Laboratory tests revealed severe microcytic anemia (hemoglobin 6.4 g/dL, MCV 69.7 fl) and hypoalbuminemia (albumin 2.1 g/dL), whilst other parameters, among which B2 microglobulin, calcitonin, Anti-parietal cell antibodies, Castle's intrinsic factor, CEA, CA19-9, CA125, CA15-3, Cyfra 21–1, neuron specific enolase, were normal. This evidence concerns the gene CALCA and microcytic anemia.
