To investigate whether Nos2−/− or C3HeB/FeJ mice better replicate human CNS-TB, we inoculated each mouse with 9.15 \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$\pm$$\end{document}± 2.33 × 104 colony forming units (CFU; mean ± s.d) of M.tb CDC1551 into the third ventricle to infect the meninges (Additional file 2: Fig. S1). The gene discussed is NOS2; the disease is tuberculosis.
