Studies reported that MALAT1 was highly expressed in different types of tumors, such as gastric adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma, and played a crucial role in the development of these cancers.252, 253, 254 Furthermore, MALAT1 was associated with hyperproliferation and metastasis in lung cancer via regulating factors, such as p53 and c-MYC, and also played a role in the EMT.255.
