HIF1A and neoplasm: Researchers found that glycolysis in tumor cells results in the release of lactate, which stimulates the upregulation of hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α)-stabilizing long noncoding RNA (HISLA) expression in macrophages, in turn inhibiting the hydroxylation and degradation of HIF-1α by blocking the interaction between PHD2 and HIF-1α, thereby promoting extracellular vesicle (EV) transport and enhancing glycolysis, which results in the production of lactate.
