Silencing of ARID1A in gastric, ovarian, glioma, and colon cancer cells has been shown to activate the phosphorylation of AKT, and PI3K (Zeng et al., 2013; Xie et al., 2014; Takeda et al., 2016; Zhang et al., 2016), suggesting an interrelationship between ARID1A deficiency and PI3K/AKT pathway activation. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and central nervous system cancer.
