We found that the binding ability of p62 to LC3 protein in Vero E6 cells decreased at 12 h post SARS-CoV-2 infection (Figure 6C), suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 hindered the binding of p62 to LC3 protein, thus inhibiting the p62-labeled mitochondria to be encapsulated by autophagosomes. This evidence concerns the gene MAP1LC3A and COVID-19.
