PTH and Hypercalcemia: Treatments for paraneoplastic encephalitis include intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and high dose steroids.4 In the presented case, another clue that a paraneoplastic process was active was the recurrent hypercalcemia, a known phenomenon driven by PTH-related peptide (PTH-rP),5 which unfortunately was not available at the testing laboratory.
