In particular, miR-335 suppresses neuroblastoma cell migration by inhibiting the expression of Lrg1 and other genes of the non-canonical TGFβ network including ROCK1 and MAPK1. Given that i) suppression of each target similarly affects the phosphorylation status of the motor protein MLC and that ii) miRNAs are known to target multiple genes within the same genetic pathway, it is reasonable to speculate that LRG1 might alter the cell migratory machinery through upstream modulation of non-canonical TGFβ cascades [39].
