Mouse models have indicated a role for Th9 cells in immunity and immune-mediated disease and recent studies have indicated that IL-9-producing cells contribute to a group of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), asthma and psoriasis [46–48].
