DSG1 and pemphigus vulgaris: In pemphigus foliaceus (PF), the production of anti-Dsg1 is responsible for the exclusive skin involvement; in pemphigus vulgaris (PV), the production of anti-Dsg3 affects the mucosa, and when the skin is involved, anti-Dsg1 and anti-Dsg3 are detected.1, 2 Both PF and PV are prevalent in the southeast of Brazil, and the analysis of the HLA profile of patients with PF and PV confirmed that they were distinct bullous diseases.3, 4
