In a study conducted by Laaroussi et al., it was revealed that Moroccan Propolis administration (100 or 200 mg/kg/day) to diabetic rats for 16 weeks resulted in significantly decreased fasting blood sugar (FBS), serum insulin, and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and increased homeostasis model assessment of β-cell function (HOMA-β) (only at a dose of 200 mg/kg/day) and quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) [19]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Insulin resistance.
