IL17A and COVID-19: Although the role of thiamine in patients with COVID-19 is unclear, Vatsalaya et al. [82] showed that a 3-week therapy with thiamine at a dose of 200 mg per day significantly decreased the baseline level of IL-17 and, at the same time, increased the level of IL-22 (anti-inflammatory response) in 16 patients with COVID-19 (proinflammatory origin due to heavy drinking).
