Lastly, we selected PTPN mRNA as a direct target of mir-661 on the basis of TargetScan, miRwalk databases (Figure S3) and previous literature [25] that highlighted PTPN mRNA as a tumor suppressor gene involved in focal adhesion signaling, IKK/NF-κB signaling, cell proliferation, and gastrointestinal carcinogenesis. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is neoplasm.
