Bcl-2 itself was discovered due to its overexpression in B cell lymphomas as a result of chromosomal translocation t(14;18), in which the bcl-2 gene on chromosome 18 fuses to the immunoglobulin heavy-chain (IgH) gene on chromosome 14 and is expressed under the control of the IgH enhancer [9,10,11]. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
