We conclude that the proteins described above, with special emphasis on Sip, BibA, Lmb, FsbA, ScpB IMPDH, and GroEL, due to their proven immunoreactivity and conservation, can be considered as good candidates in immunodiagnostic assays for detection of GBS carriage and infection particularly in pregnant women, but, with high probability, also in other patients in the so-called high-risk groups, such as elderly or immunosuppressed adults. Here, HSPD1 is linked to Guillain-Barre syndrome.
