IGHE and food allergy: In a meta-analysis, the prevalence of self-reported food allergy ranges from 1.2% to 17% for milk, 0.2% to 7% for egg, 0% to 2% for peanut, significantly higher than estimates based on objective measures such as measures of sensitization (skin prick test and serum specific IgE) which ranged from 2% to 9% for milk, less than 1% to 9% for egg, and less than 1% to 6% for peanut.
