In the last decade, several DNAm studies (including EWASs) have linked CHD and atherosclerosis to differentially methylated sites related to genes most commonly involved to the pathways of obesity, adiposity, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, inflammation, macrophage activity, smooth muscle cell proliferation and renin–angiotensin regulation [45,47,48,49,50,51]. This evidence concerns the gene REN and coronary artery disorder.
