This miRNA turns out to be very functionally complex: it has DNA methyltransferases DNMT3a and DNMT3b as targets, leading to reduced methylation, but also Cell division protein kinase 6 (CDK6), Peroxidasin-like protein (PXDN), MCL1, CXXC6 (C–X–C motif chemokine receptor 6) in various tumour types and in T-ALL; on the other hand, it is involved in active demethylation through ten-eleven translocation (TET) and Thymine-DNA glycosylase (TDG) proteins [81,114].
