The experimental thrombosis model in this study was chosen to be able to compare our present findings with historical results on the thrombogenicity analyzed after i.t. instillation of DEP: the thrombus volume previously measured 6–24 h post-administration of DEP was increased 7–8-fold over baseline thrombosis [9], a factor that compares very well with the factors presently determined for cathepsin G (5.5) and elastase (2.8), these factors having to be interpreted in an integrated manner, since both enzymes are simultaneously released upon neutrophil activation. The gene discussed is CTSG; the disease is Venous thrombosis.
