The first molecule, developed by Novo Nordisk, is a fatty-acylated GIP/GLP-1 dual agonist, showed to improve glycated hemoglobin and to reduce bodyweight in patients with T2DM, compared to liraglutide in a Phase 2 clinical trial [18], (whereas no Phase 3 clinical trials are currently ongoing). Here, GIP is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
