In 2018, authors analyzed 598 patients affected by AIS and elucidated that high plasmatic levels of Hcy and high sensitivity of C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)—above 4.65 μmol/L and 1.90 mg/L, respectively—were associated with post-stroke depression (PSD): a frequent mood disorder that occurs after a stroke, diagnosed 3 months after the acute phase by the use of the 24-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale [18]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and depressive symptom measurement.
