Law et al. could show that HELLS is a major epigenetic regulator in HCC which orchestrates nucleosome occupancy resulting in silencing of multiple (liver) cancer relevant genes (e.g., E-Cadherin/CDH1, FBP1, IGFBP3, XAF1 and CREB3L3) [19], also by DNA-methylation-independent mechanisms. The gene discussed is HELLS; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
