TRPM7 thus appears to be an important gene for non-UV-induced melanomas, as it was recently found to be (i) involved in several other human cancers [98]; (ii) significantly mutated in human oral melanomas [15]; and (iii) involved in intrachromosomal translocation in acral melanoma in a previous study [78]. The gene discussed is TRPM7; the disease is acral lentiginous melanoma.
