Recently, a comparative proteomic analysis of plasma EVs was performed in healthy controls and BC patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or after surgery; proteomic analysis of sEV-enriched fractions using a reverse phase protein array revealed a signature of seven proteins that differentiated BC patients from healthy individuals, of which, focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and fibronectin displayed high diagnostic accuracy. This evidence concerns the gene PTK2 and breast cancer.
