Given the undeniable fact that gal-3 is a marker of inter alia inflammation, oxidative stress, atherogenesis, angiogenesis, along with our significantly higher level in psoriatics, we can speculate that gal-3 levels might be a multidirectional inductor or stimulator of the mentioned processes involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The gene discussed is LGALS3; the disease is psoriasis.
