There are several theories proposed for liver damage in COVID-19, such as direct effect of the virus on hepatocytes or biliary epithelium via Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE2) receptors expression, liver injury related to increased immune response (Cytokine storm) and immune-mediated damage, drug toxicity (Acetaminophen, antivirals or Hydroxychloroquine), and liver failure occurring in patients having multiorgan dysfunction [20,21,22,23,24]. Here, ACE is linked to liver failure.
