PRKD3 and Venous thrombosis: PRKD3 has been correlated with gastric cancer progression through the activation of anaerobic glycolysis (Warburg effect) [38], a process that might also be linked to the appearance of venous thrombosis, since it has been reported that the erythrocytes in fresh venous thrombi, in comparison with normal blood, contained high levels of metabolites derived from anaerobic glycolysis, such as lactic acid [39].
