CRC has thereby been stratified into four consensus molecular subtypes (CMS), namely, (i) an immune subtype (CMS1; hypermutated, microsatellite instable (MSI), strong immune activation), (ii) a canonical subtype (CMS2; epithelial, marked Wnt and MYC signaling activation), (iii) a metabolic subtype (CMS3; epithelial, metabolic dysregulation), and (iv) a mesenchymal subtype (CMS4; TGF-β activation, stromal invasion and angiogenesis) [41]. Here, MYC is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
