Scientific evidence from recent studies showed that polysaccharides derived from peanut worms exhibited anti-cancer effects by modulating numerous molecular mechanisms including preventing the DNA synthesis, increasing the expression of pro-apoptosis proteins, TNF-α, caspase-3, and Bax, decreasing the expression of the anti-apoptosis proteins, survivin, Bcl-2, and VEGF, up-regulation of caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9, enhancing the expression of ATF4, DDIT3, and IkBα and reduction of CYR61, HSP90, and VEGF expression [18,67,73]. This evidence concerns the gene ATF4 and cancer.
