DNA methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3A) is responsible for the de novo methylation at C5 of cytosine (5mC) in CpG regions, and somatic mutations of DNMT3A have been implicated in >20% of cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) [12,77,78]. This evidence concerns the gene DNMT3A and acute myeloid leukemia.
