IER2 and neoplasm: This included Fos, a proto-oncogene, involved in important cellular events, including cell proliferation, as well as other genes such as immediate early response 2 that is a putative nuclear protein that functions as a transcription factor in cellular responses, and may be involved in the regulation of tumour progression and metastasis.44 Additionally, treated MCF7 cells demonstrated 26 genes that were downregulated and 25 genes that were upregulated as compared with control (figure 7).
