Platinum-based doublet chemotherapy was the mainstay treatment for advanced, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) for decades, until, in 2015, the FDA approved Pembrolizumab for patients with metastatic disease who had: 1) failed to respond to other treatments and 2) had tumors expressing PD-L1 [1]. This evidence concerns the gene CD274 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
