ST6GAL1 and rectum adenocarcinoma: In order to ascertain how commonly ST6GAL-1 mRNA is increased in untreated human rectal samples, the UALCAN database (ualcan.path.uab.edu/index.html) (17) was used to query transcripts in human rectal adenocarcinomas from The Cancer Genome Atlas and the level of ST6GAL-1 transcripts comparing 166 untreated primary rectal adenocarcinoma samples to ten unmatched samples of normal rectum and found that the increase was not statistically different.
