Vimentin, the primary intermediate filament protein of mesenchymal cells and tissues, has been regarded as a classical epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition biomarker.[26] Increased vimentin expression has been reported in various tumor cell lines and tissues, including endometrial cancer.[27] The results of this study indicated that HG-ESS tumors were generally positive for vimentin (100%). The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is endometrioid stromal sarcoma.
