Previous studies have suggested that inhibition of the ghrelin–ghrelin receptor signaling axis and deacylation of ligands or deletion of receptors could potentially prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D); thus, blockade of the ghrelin receptor has been proven to be a great therapeutic approach for the treatment of related diseases19–23. Here, GHSR is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
