PIKFYVE and fleck corneal dystrophy: Different from previously reported PIKFYVE variants affecting the chaperonin-like domain that cause fleck corneal dystrophy (CFD), a disease characterized by tiny white flecks scattered in corneal stroma (Gee et al., 2015; Kawasaki et al., 2012; Li et al., 2005), the p.G1943E variant in the kinase domain of PIKFYVE was revealed for the first time to cause congenital cataract in human patients.
