In order to verify whether intestinal inflammation represents an early event in PD before the onset of central neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative processes, we evaluated colonic pro-inflammatory interleukin (IL)-1β and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) levels in pre-symptomatic Tg mice at 3, 6, and 9 months of age. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and Parkinson disease.
