In agreement with these findings, we found a marked upregulation of Gas6 expression levels in neutrophil-rich areas proximate to cancer cells after gemcitabine withdrawal in serial tissue sections derived from experimental (figure 4F–H; online supplemental figure S5B, D) and spontaneous hepatic metastatic lesions (figure 4I–K; online supplemental figure S5C, D). Here, GAS6 is linked to cancer.
