According to this study, inhibiting PI3K/AKT phosphorylation could be a promising strategy to prevent onset of thrombosis in patients with severe COVID-19. In this regard, here we review the role of the PI3K/AKT pathway in regulating blood coagulation for its potential to be a suitable therapeutic target in coagulopathy inhibition in COVID-19 patients. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and COVID-19.
