We confirmed ~50% loss of CLDN5 in women with MDD when compared to matched nonpsychiatric controls (left, p = 0.0068) along with alterations in vessel morphology (right, p = 0.0288) (Fig. 1i, Supplementary Table 2 for qPCR primers and Supplementary Table 3 for demographics). Here, CLDN5 is linked to major depressive disorder.
