Garten et al. found that sorafenib-induced apoptosis in HCC was reversed by overexpression of Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) [18], which is a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent enzyme that is frequently overexpressed in HCC, and promotes tumor occurrence, metastasis, and chemoresistance [19]. Here, SIRT1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
