Because sarcoidosis is notably associated with Th1/Th17 multisystem abnormity, an increased number of CD68+ CD163− M1 macrophages and CD209+ dendritic cells and a decreased number of CD68+ CD163+ M2 macrophages may be a histologic surrogate for the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis [22,42]. The gene discussed is CD209; the disease is sarcoidosis.
