Jeong-Hyun Kang et al. has investigated oral mucosal epithelial membrane-bound mucin (MUC1) expression in women aged 60 ± 5 years and concluded that the disturbance in psychoendocrinological mechanisms might affect oral mucosal MUC1 expression and severity of oral burning feeling in post-menopausal BMS women. This evidence concerns the gene MUC1 and burning mouth syndrome.
